Liverpool are interested in signing Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich this summer. According to German outlet SportBild, Liverpool made contact with Bayern Munich about a potential transfer.
Thiago, 29, enters the final year of current contract next season and has refused contract renewal. The player made it clear he would not renew because of his desire to play in the Premier League.
Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick appears to have accepted that Thiago may leave the club. Speaking in interview with Bild, Flick said. "As a person and as an athlete, I can understand him,’ the Bayern head coach told German publication Sport Bild. ‘Thiago played for Barcelona, and seven years for Bayern. ‘Now he wants a new challenge, which in my opinion must be the Premier League."
Klopp is keen to bring the Spanish midfielder to Anfield in bid to improve what is already a very potent and formidable Liverpool side. Also, another body in the midfield will calm some nerves due to the uncertainty of the future of midfielder Gini Wijnaldum at Liverpool.
The Dutchman midfield enforcer is in the final year of his contract is yet to sign new one.
