Tottenham Hotspur have announced the signing of full-back Matt Doherty from Wolverhampton Wanderers on a four-year deal. The transfer fee for the 28-year old is in the region of £15m.
Speaking to Spurs TV after the signing, Doherty said, "I'm very proud to be joining such a big club. The best stadium in the world, probably the best training ground in the world from what I've seen. The first game of the season is two weeks away so I can't wait to get going. When I put the shirt on, it's all go for me."
Spurs manager Jose Mourinho also spole about Doherty. He said, "I hate to play against him, so I'm so happy I won't play against him again. I'm so happy that we have him. I know he is leaving with a lot of pride, but this is a new step for him. He's full of motivation.
We want to have the best players and best possible squad, we are going to have months of competition non-stop. We need a better squad than we had last season."
Doherty would try and get into the starting eleven since the club are looking to sell Ivorian international Serge Aurier.
