Chelsea are in talks talks to sign Brazilian defender Thiago Silva who is now a free agent after his contract expired with Paris Saint-Germain. The player who joined the French giants from AC Milan in 2012 has been a wonder servant for the club and is also fan favorite.
Thiago, who would be 36 next month is still regarded as a top class defender and would be a good signing for any club. He spoke about his future after PSG lost to Bayern Munich in UEFA Champions League final.
Speaking to RMC after the match, he said, "It was my last game in Paris. I am sad. I apologise to the fans. I thank all the supporters for their love. I'll come back, with another role, in this club I loved. I want to play for another 3-4 years and play in the World Cup in Qatar."
Chelsea and Fiorentina have been the clubs heavily linked with the player. However, Chelsea are believed to be favorites to sign him and Frank Lampard would be very happy to have a leader like Silva in his defense.
