Chelsea are on the verge of completing deals for Kai Havertz, Ben Chillwell and Thiago Silva this week. All three players look set to have their medicals before finalizing their deals.
Chelsea advanced their talks for Havertz after his club Bayern Leverkusen were eliminated from the Europa League few weeks ago. The 21-year old midfielder made his desire to leave known to Leverkusen earlier this summer. He had interest from other clubs but Chelsea were the only club willing to go all out for him. Chelsea will pay £72m upfront and a further £18m based on performances related bonuses. Kai Havertz will join his fellow German Timo Werner at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have also reach an agreement with Thiago Silva who is now a free agent. He will sign a two-year contract this week with Chelsea. The 36-year old Brazilian will earn €115, 000 according to various reports which will make him one the club's highest paid players.
Ben Chillwell is also expected to complete his transfer from Leicester City this week. Chelsea will pay Leicester a transfer fee believed to to be around £50m.
News about these possible three signings have brought excitement to the Chelsea fan-base. Chillwell and Havertz will give them more quality especially at their young ages and Thiago Silva's quality and experience will surely improve a defence that conceded 54 goals in the Premier League.
All these players are being lined up to help Frank Lampard reduce the gap between them and the top 2 (Liverpool and Manchester City). Chelsea are also looking to sign a goalkeeper this summer. Dean Henderson, Nick Pope, Andre Onana and Mike Maignam have been names linked with the club.
In other news, French defender Marlang Sarr has also been offered to Chelsea according to Telefoot. The 21-year defender whose contract with Nice expired this summer is rumored to be close to signing a four-year deal with Chelsea.
