Southampton have announced the signing of young Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu from Real Valladolid for a fee believed to be around £11m. He becomes the Saints second signing after they completed the permanent signing of Kyle Walker-Peters from Tottenham.
A delighted Salisu speaking to the official Southampton website said, "It's a very good feeling to be a Southampton player. I am very happy to be a part of the club and I am looking forward to starting here."
He also added, "Southampton is a club with a very rich history in developing young players, so it's a very good club for me to develop my skills and to learn a lot as a young player. I know that the team expects a lot from me and I'm going to try to give all I can to help the team."
Salisu was a player who wanted by a lot of clubs in Europe after impressing in the La Liga this season and Saints boss Ralph Hassenhűttl believes he fits the club's profile.
"This is an important signing for us. Mohammed is a player who fits our profile. He is young and has a great amount of potential, but he is also someone who has the qualities to come in and help the team as soon as he is up to speed with our way of playing", said Ralph.
The highly rated Ghanaian centerback signed a four-year deal with the Saints and will hope he can play massive for them in the upcoming season.
