WOLVES OUT OF THE EUROPA LEAGUE

Wolverhampton Wanderers have been eliminated from the Europa League after their 1-0 defeat to Spanish side Sevilla in the quarter-finals. They conceded a goal in the 88th minuted from Lucas Ocampos.

Their elimination from the tournament ended all their hopes of playing in Europe next season. Wolves hoped to qualify for next season's UEFA Champions League by winning the tournament. This came after they failed to qualify for the Europa League next season when they finished 7th place in the league.

Usually, a 7th place finish makes you eligible to play in the Europa League playoffs but due to Arsenal's FA Cup triumph, that playoff position went to the 6th placed team in the League.

Manager Nuno Espirito Santos speaking to BT Sports after the game said, "It's a small squad, we must be very proud. Now we need to make good decisions so we cannot make mistakes like we did before. We need more players."

He also spoke about the new Premier League season and their expectations.

"European football is something we chase because we want to improve.", Nuno said. "The Premier League is challenging enough, it's almost like playing in the Champions. Nothing can disturb the work the players are doing. They will be ready for the next one."

Apart from demanding for new players, Nuno would hope he could keep some of his key players who have caught the eye of some of the big clubs in Europe. This is the case for Adama Traore and Raul Jimenez(who missed a penalty against Sevilla).
